Common name Marginata. Family Heliconiaceae (Heliconia family). Overview A hybrid growing up to 10' to 15' tall, that blooms September - April. Bracts 10 - 15 (red with yellow-green on distal lip to tip ) Basal bract green - to yellow distally Rachis dark red. Hardiness USDA zone 9B - 11. Propagation Rhizomes. Culture It needs full sun to 30%; protect from low temperature; flowers after 12 months. Can be kept indoors in a large container outdoors or in the green house. |
