Family: portulacaceae.

Purslane is an common weed in Suriname; it can be grown up to a height of 20".
The stems are reddish and the succulent leaves alternate, while the small flowers are white and the seeds are formed in a pod.
Purslane is used as a vegetable in Europe, Asia and also in Suriname.

Hardiness: USDA zone 6 - 11.
Propagation: seeds and stem cuttings.
Culture: full sun / partial shade, dry to moist soil.
