Overview Bromelain (pineapple extract) is a mixture of powerful digesting enzymes (bromelain) from the pineapple fruit or stem; it has a wide range of remedial benefits. It helps to avoid blood clots, reduces pain, edema and swelling (nasal passages); it also halts lung cancer metastasis. We use the stem and (green) core of the fruit in the tincture. Digestive enzymes break down large macro-molecules found in the digested foods into smaller ones that can be absorbed. Constituents Vitamin C, vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6, vitamin A,, potassium, magnesium, manganese, calcium, iron, zinc, proteolytic enzymes (bromelain). High fiber (cellulose), citric and malic acids, sugars (glucose, sucrose). Pharmacology There is evidence that oral therapy with bromelain produces certain analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, which is one of the most common autoimmune diseases. Bromelain infuences blood coagulation by increasing the serum fibrinolytic ability (removes fibrin from the vascular system and so avoiding clots from clogging up the vessels). It also inhibits the synthesis of fibrin, a protein that is involved in blood clotting. Bromelain counteracts some of the effects of certain intestinal pathogens like Vibrio cholera and Escherichia coli. Applications Reduces inflammation and is also een remedy for wounds. Anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling, meat tenderizer; promoting apoptotic cell death and preventing tumor growth. Helps to treat digestive problems. Bromelain is effective against gastrointestinal problems such as ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease. Dosage Tincture: 1-3 full dropper daily (1-3 ml).
